Planning a Budget-Friendly “One Sweet Peach” First Birthday Party

Celebrating your little peach's first birthday is a special milestone, and with a bit of creativity, you can host a delightful "One Sweet Peach" themed party without breaking the bank. Here's how we planned a charming and budget-friendly celebration that will have everyone smiling.

Guest list and Invitations:

If budget is top of mind consider who and how many people you invite. If you’ve ever planned any event you know that budget creep starts with the guest count. For every guest you need to food and drink and party favors for every child. You see how it happens. We kept our party to local family only (think Grand Parents, Aunt, uncle and cousins). We didn’t even need to send invites I sent the party details in our existing group chat!

If you are planning to send invites consider sending out digital invitations. Use platforms like Canva or Evite to create beautiful custom invitations with peach-themed designs. It's a cost-effective and eco-friendly way to set the tone for your peachy celebration.

Venue and Decor:

With a guest list as small as ours we were able to host the party in the downstairs area of our home. We set up a small photo booth and inflated balloons in peach and cream colors.
If you’re not able to use your home there are still some amazing and budget-friendly ideas available. Hosting the party at a local park or  community center. Outdoor spaces provide a lovely backdrop for the festivities and can be decorated beautifully at a low cost. Embrace the peach theme with DIY decorations such as peach paper garlands, tissue paper pom-poms, and hand-painted signs. Utilize peach-colored tablecloths, napkins, and balloons to enhance the theme without breaking the bank.

Peachy Delights:

When our daughter turned one, she mainly ate fruit pouches, fresh strawberries, and sweet potatoes. While I had those available, I didn't let her diet dictate the party menu. I placed a small catering order from our local Jim N Nicks and also ordered two seven-dollar pizzas from Dominos for the older kids. Additionally, I got a custom smash cake and a dozen cupcakes from my local Publix. I scheduled pickup for the day before the party, and everything was ready to go on the day of the event. To top it off, a local cookie artist created one dozen beautifully custom cookies that we gave out as party favors.

Catering might not seem budget-friendly, but it's essential to consider your time. Before deciding to cook for your guests, take into account the preparation, cooking, and cleaning time. For me, it was more convenient to opt for catering.

We did include some peach-inspired items. My mother-in-law brought peach tea, and I made a peach cocktail for the adults. In hindsight, if I could redo the party, I might have included a peach cobbler or peach-flavored cupcakes, but there were no complaints from the guests.

Activities and Entertainment:

For this party we didn’t have any activities because our guest list was so small the children kept busy with the toys we keep downstairs.

If your guest list incorporates more children of an older age keep them entertained with peach-themed activities. Organize a "pin the pit on the peach" game, set up a craft station where kids can decorate their own peach-themed t-shirts or tote bags, and consider a peach-themed scavenger hunt. These activities are not only fun but also affordable, allowing the little ones to join in the peachy party fun.

Capture the Sweet Moments:

I always prioritize hiring a professional photographer. It's challenging to manage hosting duties while ensuring we capture the photos we want. I also prefer not to burden my guests with trying to take perfect photos of everything.

To save money, I created a DIY photo booth area using peach-colored streamers and a simple backdrop. I believe this was a wise investment.

By incorporating these budget-friendly ideas, you can host a delightful "One Sweet Peach" first birthday party that's both memorable and affordable. Remember, the most important thing is to create a fun and joyful atmosphere for the birthday girl and their guests to enjoy. Embrace the sweetness of the occasion and celebrate this special milestone without the stress of overspending.

Here's to a perfectly peachy first birthday party!

Sincerely, Mrs. Lilly
